The 36th Ig Nobel Prize Ceremony, this year held in Zürich, Switzerland, celebrates scientific achievements that “first make people laugh, and then make them think.” Awarded every year by the magazine Annals of Improbable Research, the prizes highlight unusual, imaginative, and surprisingly insightful studies from around the world. Past winners have explored everything from why wombats produce cube-shaped droppings to how mosquitoes are attracted to different cheeses.
We’re bringing together colleagues, students, researchers – all interested neighbours – for an evening of science, curiosity, and community. Whether you work in research, support science behind the scenes, are studying, or are simply fascinated by strange ideas and clever experiments, this is a chance to enjoy the lighter side of discovery together.
